Spiritual growth is at the heart of the Riverside Church community. Some of the things that mark our approach to spiritual growth include:

• Our sense of faith assumes the need to ask deep questions rather than supply easy answers.
• We use scripture to open and extend conversations, not to end them.
• We value faith and curiosity over using set doctrines as a tool to convince others. We trust that God is already present in and speaking through the lives and experiences of others.
• We seek to develop and  employ an ethical framework to help us draw out the voices of the marginalized in society; to analyze the use of power within contentious issues; to amplify voices that disrupt accepted narratives; and to consider the impact our theologies have on the most vulnerable among us.
